great minnesota get together

...and a day of many firsts for the girls :)

To start the afternoon off, Anna and Sophia had their first ride on a bus, which to the two of them was the greatest thrill one could ask for, but then we arrived at the state fair and the start of many more adventures to come.

Our first stop was to be cheese curd central (at papas request), with a slight detour for some deep fried pickles (at the girls insistance). We then went to the most traditional ride of The MN State Fairs history: Ye Old Mill for the Tunnel of Love. Momma and Uncle Peter took them on their first ride ever with the concensus: Ya, not so much, too dark.

Next stop, the Great Big Slide. Pop and Peter took part in that ride and all those steps (seen below); yep, every one walked by Anna and Sophia (again, they insisted).

Sophia and Anna loved the slide, and as soon as we hit the bottom they were both asking to go again, luckily they were both content when we told them it was a "special treat"

Our last stop of the day before taking the bus back to our car, some Sweet Martha's Cookies, as expected the opinion of those was YUMMY!
